Replace what is changing.

Estradiol is the primary form of estrogen produced by the ovaries during the reproductive years. As estrogen declines through menopause, the change can contribute to vasomotor symptoms and other effects throughout the body.

An estradiol patch delivers estrogen continuously through the skin, helping restore estrogen exposure without requiring a daily pill.

Treatment can help reduce:

Hot flashes + night sweats

Systemic estradiol is FDA-approved for moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause.

Menopause-related sleep disruption

When hot flashes and night sweats are waking you, reducing those symptoms may help make sleep less disrupted.

Estrogen-deficiency symptoms

Your clinician considers the broader pattern of symptoms when determining whether systemic estrogen is appropriate.

Bone loss

Certain estradiol patches are also FDA-approved for prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis in appropriate patients.

Because the patch delivers estradiol through the skin, it avoids first-pass metabolism through the liver that occurs with oral estrogen.

A closer look

Hormone therapy works best with context.

Estradiol is one piece of a much larger hormonal picture.

Before starting treatment, your physician considers your symptoms, menstrual and menopause history, whether you still have a uterus, current medications, personal and family medical history and relevant lab results.

ANUWELL requires baseline testing before hormone therapy so your physician can see the measurable side of the picture before building your protocol.

Follow-up isn't just about reaching a particular estradiol number. Your symptoms, response and labs are considered together.

Potential Baseline Recommendation

Core Women's Health Panel

ANUWELL's Core Women's Health Panel provides a broader view across sex hormones, thyroid, metabolic and cardiovascular health, inflammation and key nutrients.

The goal isn't to treat a lab number. It's to understand how your symptoms, hormone levels and overall health fit together.

Explore Labs

Relevant biomarkers may include:

Estradiol

Provides context around circulating estrogen levels and can be followed alongside symptoms and treatment response.

Progesterone

Especially important when progesterone is part of your protocol or when your physician is evaluating estrogen therapy in the context of an intact uterus.

FSH + LH

Provide additional context around ovarian signaling and reproductive stage.

Total + Free Testosterone + SHBG

Help complete the sex-hormone picture rather than evaluating estrogen in isolation.

Thyroid

TSH + Free T4 / Free T3

Thyroid symptoms can overlap with menopause, including changes in energy, sleep, temperature regulation and mood.

Metabolic + Cardiovascular Health

Glucose, HbA1c, insulin and lipid markers help your physician understand the broader health context in which hormone therapy is being considered.

Follow-Up Monitoring

Once hormone therapy is underway, your physician may recommend more focused HRT Monitoring to follow estradiol, progesterone and other relevant markers alongside your clinical response.

Safety + prescription disclosure

Estradiol patches are prescription systemic estrogen therapy. Risks and benefits vary based on age, timing of menopause, medical history, whether you have a uterus and other individual factors.

Women with an intact uterus generally require appropriate endometrial protection when using systemic estrogen. Report unexplained or unexpected vaginal bleeding to your healthcare provider.

Estradiol may not be appropriate for people with certain histories, including some estrogen-dependent cancers, blood clots, stroke, heart attack, liver disease or known thrombophilic disorders. Tell your provider about your complete medical history and all medications you use.

Possible side effects include breast tenderness, headache, abdominal symptoms, fluid retention and skin irritation at the application site.

Do not use during pregnancy. Use only as prescribed, and do not change your dose or stop treatment without discussing it with your healthcare provider.

Treatment is prescribed only when clinically appropriate based on the independent judgment of a licensed healthcare provider. ANUWELL does not manufacture or dispense medications.
